Wellington Rabbit Rescue (WRR) is a non-profit registered charity that aims to provide refuge to rabbits in need, while also advocating for the welfare of domestic rabbits through public education. WRR is run by a core team of volunteers, and supported by a network of foster homes.
Our team is experienced in all things regarding rabbit needs, well-being, health, and behaviour. We use this knowledge to advocate for the betterment of domestic rabbits and to provide support to families and the wider community.
WRR has no permanent staff – all social media, fundraising, communications, events, adoptions and rescues are carried out by our volunteers who balance these tasks between day jobs and family commitments.
Founded in 2015, Wellington Rabbit Rescue is New Zealand’s longest-running rabbit focused rescue and has rescued and rehomed more than 500 rabbits to forever homes in the greater Wellington region.
